NEThe HP LaserJet 1018, 1020, and 1022 Series Printers are optimized to support newer Windows operating systems. DOS support is not provided.
The following differences are present:
*
DOS applications typically print to a parallel port (e.g. LPT1). This is also generally true for Windows 95, 98 (first edition), or Windows NT. The HP LaserJet 1018, 1020, and 1022 printers only connect via a modern USB connection (not parallel).
*
The printer is "host-based". This means the printer uses the processing power of the computer and Windows software to format the print job for the printer. Without the Windows environment, the job will not be formatted for printing. For more information on host-based printers, see the document Explanation of Host-Based |
