Don't let this stunning, proto-Chinatown, end credits music mislead you; the score for this hard-hitting TV drama holds many surprises for the listener. Sometimes tender, sometimes jazzy, sometimes cool, sometimes avant-garde and completely uncompromising; Goldsmith packs a heck of a lot into the 16-min runtime!

I won't go into background details re plot and production, as our good friend Joe Sikoryak will be covering it when he posts his next blog. What I can tell you is that, for an additional €4776/ £4028/ $5265, we can capture this score by scheduling an additional session following the Pursuit & Crawlspace recordings (it would be recorded on the same day as one of these). That means the campaign stretch-goal figure will be €18,951 (convert as appropriate).

I hope you all enjoy this little excerpt of pure vintage Goldsmith. By pushing onward we have the distinct possibility of adding yet another lost gem to our collections. Please do keep spreading the word!

The 1% Solution

After running for just 6 days, and thanks to your incredibly swift support, the campaign is already 99% funded (at the point of writing this, only €38 remains to reach the initial goal)!

Usually, I'm a little more pro-active in posting about the Kickstarter on social media etc but I've spent the last few days in Glasgow, with our dear friends from Intrada Records, helping the team produce their new recordings of "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein" and "Abbott & Costello Meet the Keystone Kops" (just for the record...the music is sounding spectacular!).

Speaking of Intrada, the label's artistic consultant, Joe Sikoryak, is putting together a series of social media posts which shed some light on the plot and background of the TV movies which are the focus of our new Goldsmith campaign (he brought it to my attention that, perhaps/ probably, not many folks have actually seen these pictures!). He's started his mini-blogs with "Crawlspace":

Many of Jerry Goldsmith’s biggest fans may not be familiar with CRAWLSPACE (1972) directed by John Newland (One Step Beyond) and Buzz Kulik (Shamus). The 74-minute telefilm stars Arthur Kennedy and Teresa Wright as a childless couple who “adopt” the troubled young man (Tom Happer) who is living under their house. Tensions mount to a dramatic climax, thanks to the warm and gripping underscore (which sounds a bit like a cross between The Other and Crosscurrent.)


Hopefully, within the next few days, I can provide you with a clip of the third score which could be added via stretch goal (and the revised amount we'll need to raise in order to get it recorded). I guess it now goes without saying that it won't be a huge amount!

Just something to enjoy over the weekend...
As hinted at a few weeks ago, it's a pleasure to be able to reveal the next Kickstarter project in the continuing series of Jerry Goldsmith re-recordings; the (often requested) scores from "Pursuit" and "Crawlspace" (both 1972).
Some consideration had to be given to the timing of this post as I'm more than aware that campaigns for film-music related projects are increasing in both number and frequency. This particular Kickstarter is not going to run until early September, so think of this simply as a "teaser".
A few details I *can* provide:
> The cost will be modest - recording sessions, manufacture, postage - that’s all (guesstimating between 11-15,000. Exact figures will be released when the campaign launches)
> Unlike GE Theater, this will be available in both digital & physical (single CD) formats, thanks to our dear friends at Intrada Records who will be handling production and distribution of the CDs from the outset. I'm extremely touched by their enthusiasm for the project and incredibly grateful for their participation and advice.
> The music will, of course, be recorded here in Prague, with The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra (we've some super rhythm players who occasionally record in Smecky - just perfect for "Pursuit"!)
> If the campaign exceeds expectations a third score will be added via a low-cost stretch goal
> This teaser comes with a freebie - watch the video on the YouTube page and, in the description, there's a link you can use to download a free lossless audio of the "Crawlspace - Main Title". There's a makeshift cover (which I put together) included but, to be perfectly honest, when I think of what Intrada would do with this the phrase "don't give up the day job" springs to mind..but the music is great, at least!
