We just dropped TWO new #TheLordOfTheRings #TheRingsOfPower albums, for Episode One and Two. Listen NOW on #AmazonMusic. These weekly episodic The Lord of the Rings albums will contain almost entirely new music and suites, different from the Season One soundtrack album.
For the main “Season One” album, I recut, and even rewrote & re-recorded, much of the music to create an emotional listening experience that captures the season’s narrative arc in a symphonic format.
For the episodic albums, you get a playlist much closer to the narrative arc of each episode. Virtually every second of score is here. Some cues have been combined into suites to create continuous musical tracks (keeping Harfoot cues together, Elven cues together, and so on).
Most music represented on the primary soundtrack album will re-appear somewhere on these episodic albums, though in a greatly altered or expanded form. So… how can you tell what’s different on these episodic albums? If a track has a unique name, it’s more than 50% unreleased material. If the name shares keywords from a previous track, it includes less than 50% new material. (“The Boat and The Crater” for example.) If a track name is identical, the music is identical. (There are very few of these.)
Not gonna lie… I would recommend casual fans stick to the main Season One Soundtrack Album. At 2.5 hours, even that “shorter” album is massive, if not overwhelming. If you’re looking for an efficient, beautiful overview of the #LOTR score, I made that record for you! But if you’re more like me — a hardcore fan of film scores, #TheLordOfTheRings, Tolkien, or are simply curious about how music shapes to narrative drama — the episode specific albums might be for you. If you’re willing to embark, an eight-hour musical journey awaits!
Episodic albums for #TheLordOfTheRings #TheRingsOfPower will be available exclusively on Amazon Music as each episode streams on Prime Video. Once all episodes stream, these albums will be available on ALL DIGITAL PLATFORMS. (Collectors of physical media stay tuned for news!)
