Omlouvám se ale bohužel jsem musel zakázat psaní anonymům, protože nám tu nějaký sabotér vložil "hack" kvůli kterému nešlo přispívat nikomu. Nevím jestli to pomůže, ale snad nad tímto darebákem budeme mít větší kontrolu.
Srdečně zveme do tohoto klubu všechny, kteří se zajímají o zbraně, střelbu a všechno, co s tím souvisí a chtějí si o tom všem v přátelské atmosféře povídat, poradit druhým, nebo se naopak chtěji zeptat na radu.

~~Kdo chce vystupovat anonymně (tj. bez registrace na Lopuchu), musí si vymyslet nějaké jméno nebo přezdívku a psát ho do každého svého anonymního příspěvku.~~

Každého přece musíme v diskusi nějak oslovovat, aby bylo jasné, kdo na koho reaguje. Kdybychom měli odpovídat několika bezejmenným anonymům najednou, byla by diskuse značně nepřehledná. Takže, kdo neuvede jméno či přezdívku, ten jako by nebyl.

	"Double Deuce" 2-Bore Rifle: A Gunsmithing Spectacle The largest sporting rifles ever actually used in the field as more than an exhibition were 4-bore stopping rifles, firing roughly 1" in diameter (25mm) projectiles. These were intended to not simply kill a dangerous animal, but to stop it immediately in a charge, which might require shooting through thick bone or horn protection. For that purpose, the 4-bore could have some value - assuming you had an assistant to carry it when danger was not imminent! However, there have been a number of gunsmiths who have built 2-bore rifles, like this example named "Double Deuce" by its maker, Stolzer & Son of Kansas. At 44 pounds, this behemoth is definitely too heavy for practical use, but it sure is an impressively huge piece of work! It fires a 1.33" (33.8mm) ball weighing 3500gr (227g) at about 1250fps (380 m/s)...if you can hold it on target long enough to get an accurate shot.

	Italy's M14: The BM-59 at the Range Beretta in Italy developed the BM-59 after World War Two as an improvement on the M1 Garand - lightened, shortened, and given a box magazine, bipod, and selector switch. And the did this in a whole lot less time that the US took to finalize the M14. So how does the BM-59 handle? Well, sorry Springfield...it's definitely easier to shoot than the M14. Still quite a handful and not really effective or useful in FA from the shoulder, but not as bad as the American take on the concept.

	Musket to Big-Bore Rimfire: the Roberts Short-Frame Conversion Brigadier General Benjamin Stone Roberts designed and patented a fall-block style of breech loading conversion to .58 Rimfire. Over the course of the decade after the Civil War, he was able to sell approximately 23,000 of these conversions. The work was done by the Providence Tool Company, and included two main patterns - the early short frame and the later long frame. This example is a short frame gun, probably from a 5,000-gun contract to Brazil.

	Cutting Edge Military Hardware for Civilians: Manufrance Mle 1892 When the French Army adopted the Mle 1892 revolver, it was a huge improvement over the previous standard from 1873. The new sidearm has a swing-out cylinder, simultaneous ejection, was lighter, and used a high-tech new small bore smokeless powder cartridge. With Army adoption came a tremendous interest for the civilian sector. Civilians heading off to live in the French colonies in Africa and Indochina, military officers and reservists, police agencies, and private security firms were all hot to get the fancy new weapon - rather like the civilian interest in the US Army’s new M17/SIG 320 handgun. Civilian manufacture and sale began almost immediately, and in total about 88,000 civilian versions of the Mle 1892 were made (alongside 366,000 military ones). Copies were made in Spain and Belgium as well as within France itself. This example was proofed at the St Etienne proof house and sold by Manufrance - although it may well have been assembled from Belgian-made parts to reduce cost.

	Fosbery's Paradox, by Holland and Holland Lt. Col. George Fosbery was a British Army officer who was awarded the Victoria Cross for actions in India in 1863 - and that was not the only thing he did while stationed there. He also realized that there was an unmet demand for a sporting gun capable of firing both birdshot and solid ball with equal ease, for British officers interested in hunting in places where one might be equally likely to encounter fur or feather. And so he created the Paradox - basically the world’s first rifled shotgun choke. A wide pattern of rifling was engraved in the last 1.5 inches or so of a shotgun bore; enough to give a spin to solid projectiles to improve their accuracy, but not enough to severely disrupt the pattern of a load of birdshot. The result was a gun quite sufficient for either use, and Fosbery licensed his patent to Holland & Holland of London, who made beautiful guns with his Paradox name from 28ga up to 8ga.

	"Alk" - A Unique German Target Pistol This is a unique and interesting German proofed .22 rimfire target pistol. It uses a simple blowback slide, which locks open after each shot. It is striker fired, with a 12-inch barrel and a quite nice trigger. The top of the receiver is marked “Alk” in a fancy script engraving, and also has a partially legible line that was probably the location of manufacture (only “BURG” is legible now). I don’t know anything about the history of the gun, but it strikes me as probably a one-off creation by a mechanically inclined target shooting enthusiast.

	Elmer Keith's Revolver Number 5 Elmer Keith's No.5 Single Action Army is arguably the most famous custom revolver ever made. Keith had it built in 1928 after developing a friendship with Harold Croft, another revolver enthusiast. Croft had shown Keith his own custom revolvers, which he had numbered 1 through 4. Croft had been trying to make an ideal pocket gun, and Keith used several of his ideas along with some of Keith's own to put together a revolver for general-purpose field use. In recognition of Croft's work, Keith called his gun Number 5. It featured an extended flat top with windage-adjustable sights, an improved mainspring, redesigned cylinder pin, custom hammer spur, and modified Bisley grip. It was chambered for the .44 Special/.44 Russian cartridges (the Russian being a slightly shorter version of the Special), and it was Keith's favorite shooting piece until the .44 Magnum cartridge was introduced in the late 1950s. He described this gun in detail in a 1929 American Rifleman article entitled "The Last Word".

	Prototype Silenced Sten Mk4(S) at the Range Yesterday we looked at the mechanics and the history of the Sten Mk4(S), and today we have it out at the range! The very short barrel and its porting reduce the velocity of standard 115gr 9mm ammunition below the speed of sound, and so the gun is very quiet. To my surprise, the complete lack of cheek weld was not really a hindrance in keeping the sights in focus, although I would definitely prefer to have a Mk5 Sten over the Mk4 in combat. That said, the Mk4 is an exceptionally rare item, and it was great to be able to show it to you in use!

	Clerke 1st 22 Revolver : World's Worst Revolver The Clerke 1st is a 6 shot 22 LR Revolver that began life as a starter pistol and was also made in 32 S&W Short. The Frame is a Zinc Alloy and it cost $20 retail in 1971

	Prototype Silenced Sten for Paratroops: the Mk4(S) The Sten Mk4 was developed experimentally in 1943 for use by British paratroops. It used a remarkably awful folding stock along with a shortened receiver and barrel to make a very compact package - albeit one that must have been very uncomfortable to shoot. Several different models were made, with this one being a Mk4a(S) - the suppressed version. The suppressor is essentially the same system as used on the MkII(S), but with the rear endcap and barrel being permanently fixed to the receiver of the gun. Only a small number (allegedly 2000) Mk4 guns were originally made, and they were used for testing only - never for field service. Virtually all were destroyed after the war, with a few remaining examples in British museums. This one was amnesty registered in 1968, and is almost certainly the only one in private hands in the US (and possible the only privately owned one in the world). The Mk4 was dropped in favor of the Mk5, which was a much more effective gun and was used by the British paratroopers in the late days of World War Two.

	From the American Revolution: Short Land Pattern Brown Bess The standard weapon of the British Army in the American War of Independence was the “Brown Bess”, and today we are looking at a 1769 Short Land Pattern example of the Brown Bess. This was a smoothbore .75 caliber, 10.2 pound flintlock with a whopping 42 inch barrel (the Long Land Pattern it superseded had a 46” barrel). Adopted in 1769, it would serve as the British standard infantry arm until 1797. This particular example was issued to the 53rd Infantry Regiment, otherwise known as the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. This regiment arrived in Quebec City in May 1776 and participated in the fighting at Ticonderoga and Saratoga, where several of its companies were captured and interned until the end of the war. 	VMP 1930 at the Range: does the Monopod Help? Yesterday we took a look at the mechanics and history of Heinrich Vollmer's 1930 pattern VMP, and today we have it out at the range. I'm curious is the mid-point monopod will actually help or hinder accurate shooting...shall we find out?

	SMG With a Monopod? The Vollmer VMP-1930 In 1925, the German military began a series of secret SMG trials at the Kummersdorf testing grounds. One of the participants was Heinrich Vollmer. He was funded directly by the government for his small arms R&D until 1930, and iteratively developed his design until it went into large-scale production as the Erma EMP. What we are looking at today is the VMP 1930 pattern (a C&R transferrable example). At this stage, the gun had most of its final design elements, including a traditional box magazine, self-contained recoil spring system, and bare barrel. It also had a collapsing monopod in the vertical front grip, which would be later discarded.

	Miller's Musket Conversion: The Trapdoor We Have At Home In 1865, brothers William and George Miller of Meriden CT patented a system to convert percussion muskets to use the new Rimfire ammunition that was becoming available. Between 1865 and 1867, the local Meridan Manufacturing Company converted 2,000 surplus US Model 1861 muskets (mostly made by Parker & Snow) to the Miller system, using .58 Rimfire ammunition. The US military tested one of these conversions in 1867, and found it to suffer from some gas leakage and about a 3% misfire rate. There was no further Army interest, although the New York and Maryland state militias did both purchase small numbers of the guns.
